What do you want students to take away from your classes?
Students gain a logical understanding of course concepts and their practical applications in the workplace.
Why did you start teaching?
I have a passion for finance and a
strong desire to share my industry expertise with others. My background in the
finance sector has provided me with practical insights and real-world
applications that I bring into the classroom. This blend of industry experience
and teaching allows me to make complex concepts more relatable and applicable
for students. I find it incredibly rewarding to see students grasp these
concepts and apply them in their future careers. The ability to influence their
academic and professional growth makes teaching both worthwhile and satisfying
for me.
What advice would you give to those considering an MBA at SOU?
Stay proactive and disciplined.
Engage with course materials, manage your time effectively, and leverage the
flexibility of online learning. Connect with peers and instructors for support
and apply what you learn to real-world situations to enhance your practical
skills.
What is one book you think everyone should read?
It’s a textbook titled
"Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management" by Frank K. Reilly and
Keith C. Brown. [It] combines theoretical concepts with practical applications
to teach students effective money management strategies. It provides insights
on maximizing financial returns both in the present and for future growth,
blending foundational theory with real-world investment practices.
Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students may not know.
Originally from Africa, I have
found significant career success both academically and in the industry in the U.S.
My wife and I, along with others, founded a savings and credit pool to support
diaspora communities and contribute to our home country. Despite being a humble
individual, I am analytical and passionate about making a positive impact on
others and my community. I believe in the power of perseverance, embracing the
notion that tomorrow holds greater promise than today, and that success comes
through hard work and dedication. If I can succeed, you can too!
