Financial Aid


To request financial aid, go to FAFSA.org. SOU’s school code is 003219.

In order to qualify for financial aid, you must be fully admitted to a graduate program and enrolled in at least 3 credits per term. To continue qualifying for aid, you must demonstrate that you are making progress toward your degree and remain in good academic standing.

Network and email accounts are created within 24 hours after you have been admitted to Southern Oregon University (SOU).

Once you’ve been admitted, you must activate a new student account before you can begin using our online services. If you need assistance activating or using your account, please contact the IT Helpdesk:

Library

SOU online students have access to the extensive resources within the Hannon Library, which is dedicated to your success, intellectual growth, and responsible global citizenship.

For assistance with access to library materials, visit libguides.sou.edu/distance or call 541-552-6442. You can also chat online with a librarian during regular reference desk hours. A list of frequently asked questions about the library can be found here.

Textbooks are available online at the SOU Bookstore. The Bookstore website will have information for all required texts, making it easy to purchase your books before class begins. And besides books, you can also find SOU apparel and gear to demonstrate your Raider spirit.

Veterans Resources

Veterans and their dependents may be eligible to receive educational benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or the Oregon National Guard offices.

The SOU Veterans Resource Office works closely with you to expedite the VA education process. Our friendly and knowledgeable student staff will provide resources and assist in interpreting your benefits.

Veterans must request VA certification each term (including summer sessions). Contact the SOU Veterans Certifying Official by calling 541-552-7102 or emailing [email protected]. The official will certify your enrollment and forward the request to the regional VA Office in Muskogee, Oklahoma, for processing. The VA determines eligibility for educational benefits in all cases.

Southern Oregon University’s Liaison Leadership Program

Southern Oregon University’s Liaison Leadership Program
SOU online students can participate in the Liaison Leadership Program, a student organization for Master of Science in Education (MSEd) students. This group of graduate student l Leaders are either volunteers or nominated by faculty or advisors as leaders in their concentrations. The Liaison Leaders work together with their program advisors to share reminders, job opportunities, and act as a general support system for other students in the concentration. This focused, sustainable student support system works to create a positive and helpful culture within each concentration.
