What do you want students to take away from your classes?
I want my students to see the forces at work in the world of education and to be able to examine their causes. I want them to think creatively and pragmatically about solutions to education challenges.
What is the value of a master's degree in education?
Someone who holds a master's degree is an expert in not just the content, but in the foundational literature, inquiry strategies, and emerging research of the field. It equips people to think deeply, to examine critically, and to investigate systematically in order to enact practice that is research-informed and to be advocates for the field.
What advice would you give to those considering an online MSEd program?
Take it seriously. Ultimately, the value of the course to you is entirely dependent upon your level of engagement with the material and with your colleagues in the course.
