Due to the reduced tuition rate applicable for SOU’s online programs, staff rates are not available for these programs.

Due to the accelerated nature of these courses, course add and drop dates and tuition payment schedules are different for online programs than they are for regular 10-week courses. Tuition for online programs is assessed within 48 hours of your enrollment and is due in full prior to the start of the term. It's important to pay close attention to the academic calendar corresponding to each course you take – be sure you are checking the 7-week academic calendar to verify important dates. For students in the MSEd program, taking an online 7-week course and an on-campus 10-week course will result in your following two different academic calendars for adding and dropping classes and for paying tuition.
The Master of Arts (MA) and Master of Science (MS) degrees differ only in a foreign language requirement. To receive an MA degree, students must demonstrate fluency in a second language. U.S. students who have completed two years of study in one foreign language at an accredited college or university automatically meet the second language requirement for the MA degree. Students who wish to receive an MA instead of an MS should contact the Registrar’s office at [email protected].
Once you have activated your SOU computing account, you'll be enrolled in an orientation course in Moodle (either MBA Central or MSEd Homeroom). Log into Moodle from “Inside SOU” and click on the name of your program course. Once you've worked through the "Start Here" materials, you’ll have access to useful information such as your Student Handbook, master schedule of courses, and degree plan information. You’ll be able to ask questions of your program advisor in that course.
You will need a reliable high-speed internet connection with a computing device such as a desktop computer or laptop. Your device should provide internet browsing and the ability to run business applications like word processing and spreadsheets. You’ll also need a webcam and microphone to participate in virtual conference sessions with classmates and instructors.
SOU is a Google campus, so you will be able to create documents, spreadsheets, and slides using Google apps. We are also a Microsoft campus, so you will have access to a Cloud-based version of Microsoft Office if you do not already have access to that suite of applications on your computer.
Please allow at least two business days after you have received your acceptance letter before attempting to activate your SOU account. Instructions on account activation are included in an attachment along with your acceptance letter.
