In which online programs do you teach?

MSEd with a Concentration in Leadership in Higher Education

  • What do you want students to take away from your classes? What do you want them to learn?

Challenge conventional wisdom! We used to believe the earth was flat and that swimming immediately after a meal would result in severe abdominal cramping. Thanks to improving methods of research, what was once fact is now known to be fiction. What I want students to learn is how to assess research findings to know if we are encountering fact or fiction.

  • How long have you been teaching online courses?

    17 years (Since 2004)

  • What is the value of a higher degree in the field in which you teach?

Post-graduate credentials are essential to move up the career ladder in higher education.

  • What advice would you give to those considering your online program?

One of the most rewarding parts of our program is that we count on you to bring your expertise as a practitioner in your field. Our program brings the scholarship aspect and enhances the well-roundedness of our students. There is a symbiotic balance in great leaders – one that balances hands-on experience with currency in the research and best practices. Our students leave our programs having achieved that balance.

  • What is the one book you think everyone should read?

    The APA manual, of course!

  • Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students might not know:

My current research areas include adult learners, stereotypes of rural populations, and country music.
